This timeless ‘Ode to the Ash’ journal melds artisanal block-printed imagery with traditional book-binding methods and materials. It was created in collaboration with Leathersmith of London, a company with almost two centuries of book-binding heritage.
The journal’s covers, back and front, are clad in a brilliant olive linen. The 1/4 bound spine, in muted green Rutland Grain leather, offers a subtle colour and textural contrast.
Opening the journal reveals its lovely endpapers, bedecked in part of our ‘Ode to the Ash’ block print. The imagery celebrates one of this island’s most cherished - but sadly threatened - native trees. It is a wonderful mix of rural lore and social history, with a dash of magic.
To mark the collaboration, our emblem - an earthbound and celestial plough - shares the inside page with Leathersmith of London’s signature. At the foot of the page sits the name of the incorporated Bonfield design.
There are 192 glorious plain pages to fill, each one gilt edged and in 100gsm Munkin Cream paper stock. A ribbon marker is also present.
The journal is wrapped in Leathersmith branded tissue paper and housed in a smart and robust, pale green gift box.
The journal itself measures 25cm by 17.5cm. It is handmade in England.
