Created in collaboration with Leathersmith of London - a company that’s been making traditionally bound books for over 180 years - this handsome ‘Bloodlines’ journal blends artisanal block-printed imagery with long-established craft skills.
The journal has simple but refined front and back covers in a timeless, plain beige linen. Its 1/4 bound spine, a muted green Rutland Grain leather, provides an intelligent colour and textural contrast.
Endpapers are embellished with a detail from our ‘Bloodlines’ block print, the vignette poking fun at C18th pastoral life. Toiling peasants and gossiping gentry (and animals!) populate the design, their words in Dorset dialect; all are borrowed from the quill of celebrated Wessex poet William Barnes.
Inside, a title page marks the collaboration. Our emblem - an earthbound and celestial plough - sits above the Leathersmith of London signature, and at the foot of the page is the name of the incorporated Bonfield design.
There are 192 glorious plain pages to fill, each one gilt edged and in 100gsm Munkin Cream paper stock. A ribbon marker is also present.
The journal is wrapped in Leathersmith branded tissue paper and housed in a smart and robust, pale green gift box.
The journal itself measures 25cm by 17.5cm. It is handmade in England.
