Our men’s Poacher’s Coat is inspired by the overcoats worn by the rural working class in the late C19th/early C20th.
It is available to order in M, L or XL. Our current lead time is approximately 6 weeks.
This incarnation, available in either artisanal Japanese wool & linen (shown) or Harris Tweed, is one-size and boasts fine details: a piqué collar (it can be raised and buttoned to protect the neck), an angled breast pocket, surgeon’s cuffs, two front flap pockets and a deep rear vent.
Like the woods frequented by poachers of old, the coat has secrets - its lining is beautifully block-printed with a trompe l’oeil hare, pheasant and eel. They are pin-stitched, as ‘invisible’ patches, into the coat’s lining and ‘hung’ from internal buttons. The block prints are available in a choice of colours: Black, Blue grey, Midnight blue, Raw umber or Venetian red.
The coat is timeless yet of today, with a gentle, artisanal feel. Depending on your preference, it can be subtly patched (1 - 3 patches of the same material) as if mended, or left plain.
As with all our garments, this highly individual piece is entirely handmade in rural England.
*Please note that a coat made from Harris Tweed is £1200 - one made from Japanese wool & linen incurs extra cost.
