This beautiful crumpled Tweed, ladies’ ‘Song Coat’ is modelled on turn-of-the-century men’s frock coats. Its calico lining is waiting to be emblazoned with your choice of block-printed images (patched and pin-stitched) summoned from Somerset’s oldest and best-loved folk songs.
The coat is large-sized (UK 12-14) - it can, however, be made to order in various Textiles (contact us for more info) and to fit any size. This coat is crafted in a beautiful Harris Tweed herringbone-check in brown-grey tones, no longer in production.
Details include: a high, buttoned, masculine collar, left breast pocket, hip pockets, fitted bodice with hand-stitched buttonholes and olive Italian corozo buttons, a pleated skirt at the back to create fullness and a vent to reveal the coat’s lining when on the move. Working sleeves are buttoned.
Each coat is crafted by Janet Tristram at Bonfield in rural West Dorset. No two ‘Song Coats’ are the same but all have a feeling of the artisanal and handmade - perfectly imperfect.
