'Bloodlines' is a wry celebration of 18th Century pastoral life. Peasants toil in the fields, accompanied by a shepherdess and her flock and a debonair scarecrow in a tricorn hat. A beautiful hawthorn hedgerow pens them in, as if they were stock. On either side of the hedge, landed gentry indulge in sport and gossip (their utterances are all in Dorset dialect, from the quill of William Barnes). There is a falconer atop his steed, a white hart, a couple of ladies in conversation, a Harlequin riding a talking pig and a 'White Cavalier' (or, English bull terrier).
