This block-printed greetings card depicts an old French clay pipe found in a Dorset field! The pipe's bowl is the head of a striking, bonneted lady - perhaps she was once owned by a well-travelled farmer or even a Gallic POW (it is said that many of the old hedgerows in the area were planted by captives of the Napoleonic Wars).
The paper stock is 260gsm Fabriano Medioevalis in Off-white, and the ink colour is Blue grey or Venetian red. Each card is blank inside, has four attractive, hand-torn deckle edges and comes with a matching Fabriano envelope.
The image is printed by hand in our Dorset workshop.
