Our one-size tunic shirt for women is now available to order. Based on a gentleman’s shirt from around 1820, it is fashioned in a chalk white, fine, crumpled linen. The cut of the body and sleeves is straight and full (based on rectangles) and the garment is reinforced against wear at the shoulders. Hand-crafted details include: gussets either side of the neckline, at the armholes and at the slits of each side seam; antique linen buttons; gathered sleeves and cuffs, and a high collar. The shirt features one of our signature vignettes, block-printed in pale grey and pin-stitched as a patch showing through from behind. The image* is of two peasants, a man and woman, toiling in the fields - the man wears the very same shirt. Design, construction and block print are all by the artist-maker, Janet Tristram.
